BLOOMFIELD -- Joseph Allen Baker Sr., 83, of Bloomfield died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Harry Truman VA Medical Center in Columbia.

He was born March 31, 1916, at Avert, son of James Monroe and Lottie Ann Curd Baker. He and Christine Towery were married Dec. 25, 1939, at Caruthersville.

Baker retired as parts manager at Osburn-Abston Parts Inc. of Sikeston. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Masonic Lodge 310 of Sikeston.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. Joseph Baker Jr. of Dexter; a daughter, Pamela Manwaring of Sikeston; a brother, James Baker of Sikeston; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today. Masonic service will be at 7.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Dale Grissom and Jack Simons officiating. Burial will be in Sikeston City Cemetery at Sikeston.
