Jon Michael Sander, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at his home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1945, in Cape Girardeau to Norman and Norma Vogel Sander. He married Lee Allan on Nov. 26, 1971, in Washington, D.C. She survives.
Jon spent many years working in interior design, primarily in show houses and embassies in Washington, D.C., before returning to Cape Girardeau, where he worked for Rust & Martin. He then became an engineer at General Sign Co., retiring in 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Sander of Cape Girardeau; one son, Taylor Bryce Sander, also of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Don Sander (Edna) of Kansas City; his niece, Sarah Sander; and nephew John Sander (Carol).
He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Douglas Sander, on Dec. 2, 1987, as well as his parents.
The family will host a private memorial at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where his son Justin was treated. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
