Jolene F. Stearns, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born May 29, 1938, in Cape Girardeau to Charles Leo and Zita Seib Hoffer. She and Norbert Edward Stearns were married Oct. 27, 1962, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death June 1, 2002.

Jolene graduated from Cape Catholic High School (now Notre Dame Regional High School) in 1956.

She worked for Saint Francis Medical Center for 37 years, first in the dietary department and then in the laundry department, retiring in 2003.

She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and Knights of Columbus 1111 Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed bowling and dancing.

Survivors include a son, Darrell (Tamie) Stearns of Jackson; sister-in-law, Cindy Hoffer; four nieces; one nephew; and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert; and brother, Robert Hoffer.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., with a Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association, 460 N. Lindbergh Blvd., Saint Louis, MO 63141.
