Johnny Smith

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Johnny Lee Smith of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bob Burnes will officiate. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery at Morley, Mo.

Smith, 48, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born March 4, 1953, in St. Louis, son of Betty Jean Smith. He and Jackie L. Thaxtion were married Dec. 28, 1971, at New Madrid, Mo.

Smith had lived in Sikeston 15 years.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Betty Mancell of Sikeston; a brother, Jim Mancell of Gulfport, Miss.; four sisters, Sandra Midkiff of Annapolis, Mo., Betty Mancell of Jefferson City, Mo., Deborah Mancell of Gulfport, and Penny Eads of Poplar Bluff, Mo.
