GORDONVILLE -- Funeral service for Johnnie Pinkey Cook of Decatur, Ill., will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shafer Funeral Home in Taylorville, Ill. The Rev. Rodney Blomquist will officiate, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery at Taylorville.
Cook, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 1996, at his home.
He was born Oct. 2, 1906, in Cape Girardeau County, son of Napolean Dallas and Martha McIntyre Cook. He married Minnie Gartung, who preceded him in death.
Cook was a retired farmer, and was formerly of Taylorville. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Isaac of Divernon, Ill., Barbara Phillips and Jeanetta Huebner of Decatur; two brothers, Willie Cook of Taylorville, Walter Cook of West Plains; three sisters, Dora Bishop and Ellen Dickie of Sikeston, Esther Roberts of Harrison, Ark.; seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, eight brothers and sisters, eight half brothers and sisters, and a grandchild.
