MOREHOUSE -- Johnie Dallas Vaughn, 77, of Morehouse died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Noxall, son of John Nelson and Zona A. Dowdy Vaughn. He and Naomi Ruth Butler were married Oct. 23, 1937, at Kewanee.
Vaughn retired in 1982 after 31 years with Metal Cutting Tools Corp. in Rockford, Ill. He moved to Morehouse in 1983. He also owned Ator Records and Recording Studio in Rockford and then in Morehouse. Vaughn attended United Pentecostal Church in Sikeston, and was a member of Musicians Local in Rockford.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Farrell Vaughn of Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Bonnie Sweeney of Machesney Park, Ill.; a brother, Dale Vaughn of Wilson, Ark.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, four brothers, and four sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. Billie Butler officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
