Johnfer Joe McElroy, son of the late James McElroy and Minnie Dean Sweet, was born Feb. 4, 1940, in Rogers, Arkansas, and departed his life Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at his home in Scott City at the age of 82 years. He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Thresa Zimmerman of Scott City; two sons, Randy (Kim) McElroy of Advance, Missouri, and Mitchell McElroy of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Karen Carter of Irvington, Alabama, and Bobbie Joe McElroy; brother, Cleo McElroy of Diehlstadt, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley James and Shelia Baker; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.. ...

Johnfer Joe McElroy, son of the late James McElroy and Minnie Dean Sweet, was born Feb. 4, 1940, in Rogers, Arkansas, and departed his life Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at his home in Scott City at the age of 82 years.

He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Thresa Zimmerman of Scott City; two sons, Randy (Kim) McElroy of Advance, Missouri, and Mitchell McElroy of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Karen Carter of Irvington, Alabama, and Bobbie Joe McElroy; brother, Cleo McElroy of Diehlstadt, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley James and Shelia Baker; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Apart from his parents, Johnfer was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Privett and Sharon Brown.

There will be a celebration of life from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Knights of Columbus Hall in Kelso, Missouri.
