John Michael Young, 68, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at his home, after a battle of many years with cancer.
He was born Oct. 8, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Haywood "Kay" and Joyce Burr Spangler Young.
John was a truck driver and worked on the river and in construction. He enjoyed watching boats and barges go up and down the river. He lived in Jackson for the past 20 years.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce Burr Young of Round Rock, Texas; two sisters, Jo Ann Young (Jack, deceased) Crowell of Rolla, Missouri, and Judith Young (Keith) Sharp of Round Rock; and two nieces, Angela Crowell (Don) Keeting and Catherine Crowell (Ben) Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Susan Kay Young Berube.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of choice.
