COBDEN, Ill. -- John E. Wilson, 79, of Marion, Ill., died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Marion Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1921, in Herrin, Ill., son of John E. and Becky Orr Wilson. He and Vera Virginia Howard were married July 10, 1946. She died April 3, 1982. He later married Vanda James, who died July 4, 1997.
Wilson retired as an X-ray technician from SIU Health Services in Carbondale, Ill. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cobden, and attended First Baptist Church in Whiteash, Ill. He was a life member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna, Ill.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Howard Wilson of Murphysboro, Ill.; a daughter, Lynn Casper of Cobden; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden from 6-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clifford Heil officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3455.
