John Allen Williams, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Aug. 29, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, to James Harold and Marjorie McGrath Williams Sr. He and Sharon Jacob were married Aug. 7, 1971, in Cape Girardeau.
John was a 1967 graduate of Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He was a surveyor for Brown Root Construction and then worked at Motorcycle Stuff for 26 years as a parts salesman. In his younger days he enjoyed racing motorcycles. John enjoyed woodworking and fishing at his home-away-from-home at Oak Ridge. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Williams of Cape Girardeau; a son, Spencer Allen (Samantha) Williams of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Morgan Leigh Williams of Cape Girardeau; a brother, James Harold Williams Jr. of Riggins, Idaho; a granddaughter, Nora Rose Williams; two nephews, Robbie Williams of St. Louis and Ryan Williams of Troy, Mo.; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Nelson Williams.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Cape County Memorial Park.
