John William Kimball, 61, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997, at his home.

He was born May 25, 1935, in New York City, the son of John and Sophie Meyer Kimball. He married Carol Ann Baden on Jan. 14, 1956, in New York City. She survives.

He worked as a carpenter foreman, was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, carpenter's local 902 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Grateful Friends of Bill W. and Knights of Columbus Lodge 405 of Brooklyn.

He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Thomas C. Frazier.

He is survived by his mother, wife, two sons, William G. Kimball of Cape Girardeau and John Kimball of Fort Bragg, N.C.; five daughters, Susan George of Blauvelt, N.Y., Kathleen Murray of Waterford, Minn., Carol Ann Gargano of Maplewood, N.J., Margaret Bolan of Brooklyn, and Nancie Aita of Woodbridge, N.J.; five brothers, William Kimball of Anchorage, Alaska, George Kimball of Furlong, Pa., Edward Kimball of Key Largo, Fla., Robert Kimball of Queens, N.Y., and Ronald Kimball of South Egremont, Mass.; a sister, Carol Ann Totino of Brooklyn; and 16 grandchildren.

Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church. A funeral Mass will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating.
