Funeral service for John W. Brown Sr., 1836 Herman, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Brown, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Sapulpa, Okla., son of Henry and Nora Davis Brown. He and Jaynne Waters were married in June 1983, in Cape Girardeau.
Brown owned Ed's Bar 19 years. He was a chief engineer and port engineer for several companies, retiring in 1980 from J&M Towing in Bethalto, Ill.
He was a member of American Legion Post and Eagles Aerie. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John Brown Jr. of Alton, Ill.; three daughters, Carol Adams and Sandra Kenny of Ashland, Penny McCormick of Brighton, Ill.; two stepsons, James Yancy of Blodgett, John Yancy of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Janeene Cunningham of Chaffee; a brother, Henry Brown Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
