Funeral service for John Atwell Tarr, 133 S. Park, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Richard Jansen will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. The Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:30.

Tarr, 87, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 12, 1910, in Cape Girardeau. He and Stella Griffaw were married June 25, 1934, in Cape Girardeau.

Tarr had worked at Leming Lumber Co., worked on the river, and worked 43 years at Marquette Cement Co., retiring in 1985.

He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church and life member of KC Council 1111.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Tarr of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Rosalee Brown of Cape Girardeau, Mary Wilhelm of Benton, Joan Sachse of Murray, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
