John Theodore Skibbie, 72, of 225 Barbery died Sunday, May 14, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Girard, Kan., the son of John and Amy Lorraine Coon Skibbie. He married Lavinia Coy on June 19, 1948, in Columbia.
Skibbie was a U.S. Navy veteran and attended the University of Missouri Law School. He worked as an attorney for State Farm Insurance from 1954 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Cape Pilots Club at the Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport, the Missouri Bar Association and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Muench of St. Louis; two brothers, Ralph Skibbie of Olivehurst, Calif., and James Skibbie of Leawood, Kan.; four sisters, Maxine Greigo of Trinidad, Colo., Frinda Howard of Buena Vista, Colo., Jean Taylor of Pittsburg, Kan., and Sharon Cizerle of Arma, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau, where funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
