OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Funeral for John D. Sissom Jr. of Olive Branch will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Alexander Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Ernest Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Sissom, 81, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at his home.
He was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Ullin, Ill., son of John Daniel and Mary Ann Carson Sissom Sr. He and Marcella Pearman were married Nov. 28, 1945.
Sissom worked for Pennsylvania Railroad, Tamms Silica Mill, was a welder at Marine Ways in Mound City, Ill., and was a logger many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mickey Sissom of Olive Branch, Johnny Sissom of St. Louis; six daughters, Joyce Rodgers, Phyllis Rodgers, Shirley Rodgers and Judy Sissom, all of Olive Branch, Kathy Kinder and Tina Stone of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Bill Sissom of Olive Branch; a sister, Frieda Pearman of Cape Girardeau; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
