John was born Jan. 26, 1956, in Cape Girardeau to Gilbert H. and Burdetta "Dets" (Welker) Sievers.

John dedicated his life's work as a medical technician at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Cape Girardeau and Monticello Nursing Home in Jackson.

Family survivors include his brother, Gilbert "Keith" Sievers of Columbus, Ohio; his nephew, Gil H. Sievers of Medina, Ohio; and a niece, Lisa Blackwell of Maryland.

McCombs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
