John Ernest Schreiner III, 69, of Jackson died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at his home.
He was born Oct. 14, 1942, in Jackson, to John Ernest and Vera Jean Welker Schreiner Jr. He and Martha Ann Orrell were married Dec. 3, 1960.
John served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1963.
He worked at Jackson Hosiery Mill, then later was a mechanic for United Shoe Machinist, repairing machinery at the various shoe companies in the area. He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 and New McKendree United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha of Jackson; a son John Ernest Schreiner IV and friend Craig Hardesty of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Teresa (Joseph) Scarpaci of Jackson, Connie Robison and companion Mike Wilcutt of Benton, Mo.; two sisters, Judy Ford of Jackson, Joyce Lincoln of Patton, Mo.; five grandchildren, David Robison, Lindsey Robison, Paloma, Nikolas and Luciano Scarpaci; and a great-grandchild, Kenzie Robison.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Mark Lincoln officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with full military honors.
