John Sachen

John Sachen, 77, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, June 21, 2013.

He was born April 21, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo., to John and Vivian Sachen.

John was a St. Louis University High School alumni and attended St. Louis University.

He served in the United States Air Force.

John's lifelong mission was to educate firefighters, using state-of-the-art techniques and equipment. He was devoted to firefighter safety. When asked if he would ever retire, he replied, "I will continue to teach as long as asked."

Survivors include his ex-wife, Barbara Schwepker; four daughters, Caprice (Jim) Lawrence, Johnna Sachen, Bethany Sachen and Valentine (Tony) Buttice; and six grandchildren, Mariah, Violet, Jack Henry, Gabrielle, Tony Jr. and Emme.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, 4900 Ringer Road in St. Louis. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
