MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- John Thomas Ryan, 72, of Marble Hill died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at his home.
He was born April 17, 1940, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., son of William Edward and Mildred Ann Ryan.
Ryan was a retired offshore boat captain with Tide Water Inc. in Louisiana. His work took him all over the world.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Ryan was a charter member of Cpl. Mason O. Yarbrough Marine Corps League in Cape Girardeau, a member of the Chittenango, N.Y., Emerald City Marine Corps League, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was of the Roman Catholic faith and a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 5898 in Leopold, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley J. Keller Ryan of Marble Hill, married July 6, 1983; a daughter, Kelly Adams of Frankfort, N.Y.; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Kai Keller of Jackson; a brother, William E. Ryan of Spencer, N.Y.; two sisters, Mildred Hammond of Waterville, N.Y., and Marilyn Dealing of Oneida, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Liam Adams, Zachary and Trevor Keller and Lindsay Lemons.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will be at 7 p.m.
Interment will be at a later date at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
