John Ryan

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- John Thomas Ryan, 72, of Marble Hill died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at his home.

He was born April 17, 1940, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., son of William Edward and Mildred Ann Ryan. He and Shirley Jane Keller were married July 6, 1983, in Marble Hill.

Ryan was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a retired offshore boat captain with Tidewater Inc. in Louisiana. His work took him all over the world. He was a charter member of Cpl. Mason O. Yarbrough Marine Corps League in Cape Girardeau, Emerald City Marine Corps League in Chittenango, N.Y., and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was of the Roman Catholic faith and a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 5898 at Leopold, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kelly Adams of Frankfort, N.Y.; a stepson, Douglas (Kai) Keller of Jackson; a brother, William E. Ryan of Spencer, N.Y.; two sisters, Mildred Hammond of Waterville, N.Y., and Marilyn Dealing of Oneida, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Stephanie and Liam Adams, Zachary and Trevor Keller and Lindsay Lemons.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will be at 7 p.m.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
