JOHN R. PHELPS

OAK RIDGE -- John R. Phelps, 68, of Salinas, Calif., died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1991, at his home.

He was born July 11, 1923, near Oak Ridge, son of Jason T. and Tillie Green Phelps. He attended Oak Ridge Schools.

Phelps was an electrician at Firestone Co., until he retired because of ill health. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, the former Jane Mayhew; three daughters, Ronda, Lavonne and Susan; two sons, John Jr. and Randy; two brothers, Lynn Phelps of Jackson, Weldon Phelps of Peoria, Ill.; a sister, Verda Fronabarger of Oak Ridge; two stepsons and nine grandchildren.

Funeral service was held in Salinas.
