JACKSON -- Funeral service for John R. Cox of Jackson, a former area businessman, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Otto Steinhaus will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-7 tonight.
Cox, 86 years old, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 1990, at his home.
He was born Aug. 18, 1904, in St. Louis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cox. He and the former Lucille Finley were married May 24, 1942. She died Oct. 6, 1985.
Cox moved to Jackson in 1938 and operated variety stores at Jackson, Chaffee and Dexter. He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, Excelsior Masonic Lodge 441 AF&AM, and a 32nd Degree Mason in St. Louis.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Maxine Scott of Sikeston, and a niece, Jacqueline Scott of Los Angeles, Calif.
