DONGOLA, Ill. -- John Virdell Poynor, 65, of Dongola, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born Dec. 22, 1933, in New Madrid, Mo., son of O.E. and Audie Ginn Poynor. He and Joyce Ann Monan were married Sept. 14, 1963.

Poynor was a retired delivery truck driver, and member of Smith Street Church of God in Sikeston, Mo.

Survivors include four sons, Rick Conley of Walnut Ridge, Ark., Brian Conley of Elizabethtown, Ky., Charles Conley of Wickliffe, Ky., Jon Poynor of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Janie Johnson of Dongola, Kelley Estes of Wickliffe; a sister, Bernice Wheatley of East Prairie, Mo.; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and three brothers.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Clark Short officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Cemetery at Anniston, Mo.
