PUXICO -- John William Piper, 92, of Puxico, died Thursday, June 6, 1996, at Pine Lawn Residential Care II in Puxico.
He was born Nov. 6, 1903, in Carrolton, Iowa, son of George Luther and Florence Astleford Piper. He and Velma Mullins were married Dec. 14, 1930, in Iowa. She died Dec. 7, 1975. He and Mildred Ellis were married in April 1976 in Carson City, Nev. She died in 1987. He and Ruth Gaunt were married in October 1987 in Virginia City, Nev. She died Dec. 31, 1995.
Piper lived in California from 1938 until moving to Puxico eight months ago. He was a retired pipe welder.
Survivors include a son, John Piper Jr. of Red Bluff, Calif.; three daughters, Beverly Daniels Wilfong of Puxico, Thelma Sturm and Carol Sherrill of Orland, Calif.; two sisters, Hazel Kult of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Marie Buckner of Scranton, Iowa; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and three stepgrandchildren.
Watkins and Sons Funeral Home at Puxico is in charge of arrangements.
