John Peters Sr.

BERTRAND, Mo. -- John Albert Peters Sr., 91, of Bertrand died Sunday April 3, 2005, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

He was born on June 2, 1913, in Pontotoc, Miss., son of John Karl and Virginia Savely Peters.

He married Mabel Ann Woods on Oct. 19, 1935.

He had lived in Bertrand most of his life and farmed until his retirement. He was a member of Bertrand First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Bertrand; seven sons, John Albert Peters Jr., David Peters and Larry Peters, all of Bertrand, Mike Peters of Charleston, Mo., Jerry Peters of Benton, Mo., Ricky Peters of Arcola, Ill., and Steve Peters of Sikeston, Mo.; three daughters, Barbara Miller and Donna Peters, both of Bertrand, and Dianne Babb of Charleston; a brother, Carl Peters of Farmington, Mo.; 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Revs. Bob Herring and Dolan Rogers officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
