John W. Penrose, 59, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at his home.
He was born Dec. 30, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, son of Dennis and Alene Alford Penrose. He and Janet Quade were married April 2, 1983.
John was a 1970 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau and was raised in the Catholic faith. He worked 30 years for the city of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, retiring Aug. 1, 2011. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, hunting for and collecting arrowheads, shooting pistols at Apple Creek and visiting historic Civil War and American Indian sites. He loved music and his "family" of cats, was an avid fisherman and a loving, devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years; a daughter, Jennifer Penrose of Cape Girardeau; his mother, Alene, of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Jim Penrose of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Cheryl (Randy) Seabaugh of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Norman Quade Jr. of Jackson; three nieces, Kelli Seabaugh, Erica Graff and Lori Quade; a great-niece, Maddie Seabaugh; and a host of special friends.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1975.
Friends may call from noon until service time Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Schultz officiating.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Southeast Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
