ANNA, Ill. -- John Paul "Big John" Beanland, 73, of Anna, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1993, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 8, 1920, at Eldon, Mo., son of Theodore and Minnie Bookout Beanland.
He married Luvina Unterreiner, July 12, 1942, at St. Louis.
Beanland was a veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific theater of war.
He worked as a water well driller.
Beanland was a member of the Illinois Association of Ground Water Professionals, the National Ground Water Association, the American Threshers Association, the Oklahoma Steam Threshing Gas Engine Association and the Operating Engineers Local No. 318 in Harrisburg, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Scharlene Jones of Oak Ridge, Joan Faye Leimer of Jackson, Pat Reeves of Bloomington, Ill., Suzzie Thieke of Murray, Ky.; five sons, John Ray "Sonny" Beanland and Ron Beanland, both of Anna, Ted Beanland and Leonard Beanland, both of Dongola, Ill., Glenn Beanland of Cobden, Ill.; two sisters, Fern Kolsen of Collinsville, Ill., Jewel Daughtery of Edwardsville, Ill.; two brothers, Edsel Beanland of Eldon, Mo., Howard Dale Beanland of Collinsville, Ill.; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. today at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with Tom and Jeff Reeves officiating.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Eldon City Cemetery, with the Rev. Jasper Hunter officiating.
Burial will follow.
