CHARLESTON -- John Hutson "Buddy" McDermott, 48, of LaCenter, Ky., and formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at his home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1951, at Cairo, Ill., son of the late Vernon "Bud" and Barbara Ann Miller McDermott. He and Ginger Gregory were married Dec. 31, 1983.
He had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was employed by Pullen Brothers Trucking until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church at Charleston and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of Bertrand; two sons, T.W. McDermott of Charleston and Jacob Wayne McDermott of Bertrand; and his step-mother, Pauline McDermott of East Prairie.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Stephenson officiating.
