CHAFFEE -- Funeral mass for John M. Halter of Chaffee will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. The Rev. John Cantore will officiate, with burial in Union Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home here after 3 p.m. today. The rosary will be at 7.
Halter, 87 years old, died Wednesday, March 13, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 7, 1903, near Chaffee, son of Phillip and Mary Welter Halter. He and the former Irene Gosche were married Oct. 15, 1935.
Halter worked for Frisco Railway Co., and retired from Federal Materials Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church.
Survivors include his wife; a foster son, William Pennington of Chaffee; two brothers, Phillip Halter of Cape, Lawrence Halter of Kissee Mills; two sisters, Helen Evans of Chaffee Route 1, Caroline Lux of Granite City, and a foster granddaughter, Elvalyne Pennington of Chaffee.
