CHARLESTON, Mo. -- John Joseph Lux, 81, of Charleston died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Chicago, son of Joseph Peter and Pearl Viola Zacker Lux. He married Irma Louise Luther.
Lux was a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago. He was a certified public accountant and certified financial planner, having first worked at George Rossetter and Co. in Chicago.
He moved to Memphis, Tenn., in 1946, where he became a partner with the CPA firm of Harry M. Jay and Associates. He became certified and licensed in eight states.
He sold his partnership of 32 years and moved to Charleston where he was part-owner and general manager of Delta Pork Inc.
Lux was a member of Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church in Sikeston, and a lifetime member of Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William Lux of Sheffield, Ala.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hunter Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rufus C. McLean Jr. officiating.
