CAIRO, Ill. -- John Dewey Lowe Sr., 83, of Cairo died Friday, June 12, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Hickman, Ky., son of Isaac and Bertha DePriest Lowe.
He was an Amoco Oil agent in Cairo for many years before his retirement.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cairo, Elks Lodge 651 and the Egyptian Country Club in Mounds.
He served in the Illinois National Guard Company K in Cairo during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Ellen Lowe of Cairo; a son, J.D. Lowe Jr. of Cairo; four sisters, Bernice Cauble and Margie Frisch, both of Shreveport, La., Vivian Wallace of Las Vegas and Joan Napillo of Citrus Heights, Calif.; a brother, Alton Lowe of Shreveport; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Friends may call at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 5-8 p.m. Monday, with Elks rites at 7:30.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The Rev. Kelly Cox will officiate. Burial will follow in the Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds.
