SIKESTON - Sikeston resident John Lett died Monday, June 15, 1992 at the Memphis Veterans Administration Hospital. He was 74.
Lett was born in Bertrand Sept. 6, 1917 to the late Thomas L. and Minnie Golightly Lett.
He worked in industrial construction, served in the Army in World War II, and was a member of the Charleston Veterans of Foreign Wars post, New Madrid American Legion Post No. 595, the Sikeston Disabled American Veterans and the Cape Girardeau Laborers' Union.
Lett was also a member of the First Methodist Church of Bertrand.
On June 12, 1952, he married Dorris Moore Lett, who survives.
Survivors also include a son, John S. Lett of Gonzales, La.; daughters Mary Whitaker of Ocala, Fla., DeMorris Capps of Sacramento, Calif., and Linda Logsdon of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Robert Lett of Lavernia, Texas; sisters Virginia Deweese and Ann Britt, both of Sikeston, and Lucille Jackson of Charleston, June Couch of Florissant, and Jane Lucas of Grays Lake, Ill.
Surviving as well are 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Guffie of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, with an honor guard by the American Legion.
