John Lowell Rastl Jr., 72, of Plaquemine, La., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 1994, at his home. He was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Marble Hill, son of John Lowell and Mabel Grace Presnell Rastl. He and Sylvia DeWitt were married Nov. 7, 1942, at Fredericktown. She died Jan. 13, 1961. He later married Vivian Winn Rhymer May 3, 1969, in Cape Girardeau...

John Lowell Rastl Jr., 72, of Plaquemine, La., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 1994, at his home.

He was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Marble Hill, son of John Lowell and Mabel Grace Presnell Rastl. He and Sylvia DeWitt were married Nov. 7, 1942, at Fredericktown. She died Jan. 13, 1961. He later married Vivian Winn Rhymer May 3, 1969, in Cape Girardeau.

Rastl was employed at Cape Ready Mix 29 years. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, and served in Normandy. He moved to Plaquemine in December 1993.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Rastl of Tucson, Ariz., Terry Rhymer of Plaquemine; a sister, Maxine Wagganer of St. Louis; three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel, with the Rev. Hal Greene officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
