JOHN L. "JACK" THORNE

BENTON - John L. "Jack" Thorne, 89, of Benton, died Saturday, Oct. 23, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born in Osage City, Kan., on Feb. 24, 1904, to Fred and Ida West Thorne.

On Dec. 20, 1925, he married Alice L. Carel at Brookfield. She survives.

Thorne was employed with the Brown Shoe Company, Florsheim Shoe Company, and Sports Specialty Shoemakers, all in Chaffee. He was an amateur radio operator.

Survivors include one son, Fred Thorne of Benton; one daughter, Pamela Seiler of Benton; one sister, Eva Dorman of Wamego, Kan., along with four grandchildren, nine-great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three daughters and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held today, at 10 a.m., at the Amick- Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, with the Rev. John Gregory officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley.
