John Kenneth Kruse, 99, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
He was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Nash, Oklahoma, to Frank and Helen Hutcheson Kruse. He married Ora Mae Ditamore on Dec. 31, 1942, in Monterey, California. She passed away in Hutchinson, Kansas, on Jan. 15, 1968. John then married Margaret Gillilan on June 28, 1969, in Hutchinson, where they made their home until moving to Hays, Kansas, in 1989. In August 2011, they moved to Jackson to be near family.
John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Southwest Pacific area.
John's great joy was fishing and cheering for his granddaughters as they participated in sports. He was an active church member wherever they made their home.
He is survived by a sister, Kathleen Wayman of Nash; daughter, Kim (Randy) Webster of Cape Girardeau; two granddaughters, Mollie (Bryan) Austin of Jackson and Megan (Seth) Fortenberry of Waco, Texas; five great-grandchildren; and two nephews of Nash.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ora Mae; and second wife, Margaret, Dec. 12, 2016.
There will be no services at this time.
