DEXTER -- John Richard Jarrell, 65, of Dexter died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Vencor Hospital-Bay Area in Pasadena, Texas.
He was born April 6, 1934, at Bernie, son of Claud Otis and Velva McCamish Jarrell. He and Betty Jo Johnson were married July 9, 1977, in Fort Worth, Texas. She died Nov. 12, 1999.
Jarrell was a truck driver most of his life. He was a member of the Word of God Church and American Legion.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Claud Jarrell of Pasadena; a daughter, Tonya Swihart of Pasadena; his mother, Velva Robisky of Dexter; three stepsons, William, Troy and David Dollins, all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Linda Cagle of Oklahoma City; a sister, Margie Thrower of Dallas, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Pete Moseby officiating. Burial will be in Sadlers Chapel Cemetery near Dexter.
