LEOPOLD -- John J. Jansen, 77, of Leopold, died Monday, May 20, 1996, at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 9, 1918, at Glennon, son of Gerhard L. and Anna Debrock Jansen. He and Flora Wibbenmeyer were married Oct. 8, 1945.
Jansen retired as a machinist with John Ramming Co. of St. Louis. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 5898, and VFW Post 5900. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John Jansen Jr. of St. Louis; three daughters, Patricia Ware of Memphis, Tenn., Elizabeth Meyer of League City, Texas, Karen Purcell of St. Louis; two brothers, Walter and Luke Jansen of Leopold; two sisters, Bertha Beussink and Gertrude Vandeven of Leopold; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 and KC rosary at 8.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Church, with the Rev. James Seyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with VFW graveside rites.
