John Louis James, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born March 18, 1930, on the family farm in Cape Girardeau to John Frank and Esther Anita Siemers James. He and Georgia L. Mehrle were married June 14, 1953, at Cape Girardeau.

He served in the U.S. Army.

John was a custodian for First Federal Savings & Loan Association for 32 years.

He was in the Cape Lanes Bowling League, was a big Cardinals fan, and loved to play Pitch (cards).

He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia James of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Donald and Earl James, both of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Wanda James of Cape Girardeau; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert R., Franklin D. and Joe David James; and a brother-in-law, Robert L. Mehrle.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jennifer Long officiating. Entombment with full military honors will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 N. Ellis St., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
