BENTON, Mo. -- John Paul Hente, 63, of Benton died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1951, in Cape Girardeau to Lester and Alice Bouge Hente. He and Carol Bertagnolli were married July 26, 1975, at Egypt Mills. John was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and confirmed at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. BENTON, Mo. -- John Paul Hente, 63, of Benton died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at his home.

He was born Oct. 2, 1951, in Cape Girardeau to Lester and Alice Bouge Hente. He and Carol Bertagnolli were married July 26, 1975, at Egypt Mills.

John was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and confirmed at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran School and Central High School.

He was a past member of the Eagles, Elks and was former president of the Cape H.O.G. Chapter. John was a mechanic at Cape Toyota, Crown Cadillac/Nissan and John Sinclair Nissan, where he was shop service manager and later a service consultant. He enjoyed rebuilding antique tractors and small engines, and had been a former member of Egypt Mills Antique Tractor Club. His passions were antique engines, loved going to bluegrass festivals and was an avid train watcher.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Hente of Benton; two sons, Andrew James (Erin) Hente of Osseo, Minnesota, and Brian Joseph Hente with the U.S. Air Force in Goldsboro, North Carolina; two brothers, David L Hente of Cape Girardeau and Dennis (Pat) Hente of Dexter, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Selina, Lila and Austin Hente.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

There will be no service.
