John Henry Wiseman, 75, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 1995, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born April 21, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, son of Henry H. and Mary M. Wiseman.

Wiseman received bachelor and master degrees from Southeast Missouri State University.

He was a field auditor with REA, was employed by the Civil Service 20 years in the audit department of the U.S. Army, and was a financial aids officer in the financial aids department at Southeast from 1965 until retiring in 1982.

He was past president of Evening Optimist Club and Community Concert Association. He had played clarinet in the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band since 1965, and had been director and manager of the German Band. He played the violin in musicals at Notre Dame High School.

Wiseman was a member of First Baptist Church, Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation Board, Salvation Army Advisory Board emeritus, Copper Dome Society, River Heritage Museum Board of Directors, Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, Shrine Club, St. Mark Masonic Lodge 93, York Rite 55, Wilson Chapter 75, Cape Council 20 Cryptic Masons, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, American Association of Retired Persons, Cape Municipal Band Board of Directors, Executive Club, and life member of Friends of St. Francis.

Survivors include a brother, Ben F. Wiseman of Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 5:30.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with Dr. John Owen and the Rev. Ben R. Wiseman, a nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
