John Ervin Frank, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, to Henry Phillip John and Amanda Rosine Springer Frank. He and Louise Vasterling were married April 9, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, by the late Rev. Wittrock. They were married 64 years.
John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville, then joined Hanover Lutheran Church with his parents before transferring to Trinity. At Trinity he was an usher and was active in its Men's Club as secretary and treasurer, and worked every year at the Men's Club stand at the SEMO District Fair.
He farmed until 1990 while also working at Heuer Implement nearly 35 years and part time at Miller Meat Packing in Jackson. John was on the ASC Board and was a delegate for MFA in 1976. He also was on the boards at Campster School and Trinity Lutheran School.
He enjoyed hunting, making deer sausage, going to shooting matches and playing bingo with Louise. He relished taking his great-grandchildren back and forth to school and taking them shopping and to Burger King.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Frank; a son, Larry Gene Frank; two sisters, Josie Schuessler and Hermina Westrich, all of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Danielle (Jonathan) Frymire; two great-grandchildren, Haylei and Jaylin Frymire; two great-stepgrandchild, Jamon and Jarid Frymire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Alvin and Henry; an infant brother; and two sisters, Marie Kirchdoerfer and Clara Stoll.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Church, with the Rev. Nathan Burgell officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School.
