John H. Finney, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 30, 1915, in Portageville, Mo., son of Dr. and Mrs. Finney of Whitewater. He and Ruth Stovall were married Sept. 9, 1938. She died Feb. 23, 1993.
Finney was a Diesel engineer 45 years with Missouri Barge Line, retiring in 1972. He had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1975 and attended Trinity Grace Chapel.
Survivors include two daughters, Pauline Davis of Jackson, Cindy Mooney of Dix, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Troy Truitt and the Rev. Edward Stovall officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
