JACKSON -- John Michael Filer, 37, of Jackson died from a heart attack Thursday, Feb. 6, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 11, 1959, in Cape Girardeau, son of Buford and Alice Hansen Filer. He and Mary Jo Combs were married Sept. 14, 1985.

Filer was a graduate of Jackson High School, and 1981 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.

He had worked at the former Ward's Super Market in Cape Girardeau, worked with his father at Filer Lincoln-Mercury-Ford in Union City, Tenn., worked at the former Ram-Post in Cape Girardeau, and at Tommy Blair dealership in Paducah, Ky.

Filer was currently employed at Crown Cadillac-Olds-Nissan in Cape Girardeau, and was named Salesman of the Month for the past three months.

He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church and the Adult II Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Filer of the home; three daughters, Katharine, Allison and Rebecca Filer of the home; his parents of Jackson; three sisters, Linda Lucero of Denver, Colo., Judy McCullough of Columbia, Carol Reddick of Cape Girardeau; maternal grandparents, Lee and Geneva Hansen of Jackson; and paternal grandmother, Stella Filer of Jefferson City.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mark Anderson and David Butler officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
