SIKESTON, Mo. -- John Albert Evans, 57, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at his home of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Feb. 10, 1943, at Tanner, Mo., son of Harry D. "Pete" and Elsie Lorene Payne Evans. He and Sandy Hopper were married June 20, 1965, at Bertrand, Mo.
Evans was a 1964 graduate of Sikeston High School. He was a police officer with Sikeston Department of Public Safety 18 years, retiring in 1985.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Evans of Sikeston; a daughter, Lee Ann Coffee of Morley, Mo.; three brothers, David Evans of Miner, Mo., Bob Evans of Cardwell, Mo., Raburn Evans of Sikeston; two sisters, Eva Evans of Sikeston, Jeannie Clark of Cardwell, Mo.; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Leon Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
