SIKESTON, Mo. -- John Richard Ensor Sr., 90, died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at his home in Sikeston.

Born July 1, 1927, in Sikeston to the late Wilbur Woodside and Maggie Matthews Ensor, he was a member of Hunter Memorial Presbyterian Church and graduated from Sikeston High School in 1945.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a fireman apprentice during World War II.

He was a 40-year member of the Naval Reserve Seabees Construction Battalion and had worked as a structural-steel estimator and detailer for Steward Steel, SEMO Construction and Clayton Fabrication before retiring.

On March 28, 1951, he married Hazel Bernice Widner. She survives of the home in Sikeston.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Richard Ensor Jr. and Paul Jared and Melissa Ensor, all of Sikeston; one sister, Joan Elizabeth Cowell of Sikeston; and two grandchildren, Ashley Ensor and Annie Ensor, both of Sikeston.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
