John James "Jack" Durkin Jr., 75, of Alpharetta, Ga., died Friday, March 16, 2001.
He was born Nov. 19, 1925, in McKees Rocks, Pa., son of John J. and Marie Durkin. He married Mary Delores Kelly in May 1948 at McKees Rocks.
Durkin was a chief chemist in the cement business 40 years and had lived in Pennsylvania; Cape Girardeau; Hutson, N.Y.; and Independence, Kan. He retired and moved back to Cape Girardeau in 1985, and had lived in Alpharetta since 1995.
He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Roswell, Ga. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nancy Tinsley of Pensacola, Fla., Beth Moore of Suwanee, Ga., Kelly Chance of Roswell; three sons, Jack Durkin of Chicago, Tom Durkin of Pensacola, Danny Durkin of Kennesaw, Ga.; two sisters, Janet and Betty; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral Mass was March 19 at St. Andrew Catholic Church with the Rev. Jack Druding officiating. Burial was in Green Lawn Cemetery.
Roswell Funeral Home in Roswell was in charge of arrangements.
