John D. Morrison, 75, of 612 Taylor Street in Sikeston, died at 2:22 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 1994, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born March 4, 1919 in Clarksville, Ark., to the late William E. and Nancy Jane McCarley Morrison. He worked for the Sikeston Police Department from 1945 to 1947 as the city's first parking meter patrolman. He was employed by the city of Sikeston from 1947 to 1963 at the old diesel power plant. He also worked as the plant and facilities engineer for National Lock and Amerok, Inc., Manufacturing Company of Sikeston.

Morrison was a charter member of the Sikeston Community Church and served as the Sunday School director.

On July 29, 1939 he married Lorene Graves Morrison in Sikeston. She survives him. Other survivors include a daughter, Suzette Morrison, and a sister, Dessie Harris of Matthews. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Matthews Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Buckley, pastor of the Sikeston Community Church, officiating.
