DEXTER -- Funeral service for John Willard Christian of Dexter will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter. The Rev. Vyron Yount will officiate, with burial in Hagy Cemetery.
Christian, 63, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 24, 1932, at Dexter, son of George Dewey and Florence Ellis Christian. He and Jeannie Riddle were married Oct. 7, 1950, in Flint, Mich.
Christian was employed at Chrisman LP Gas Co. 30 years, and attended Second General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Johnnie and Carlos Christian of Dexter; three daughters, Patsy Mick of Blytheville, Ark., Carolyn White and Judy Hart of Dexter; four brothers, Gene Christian of Dexter, Charles, Donnie and Willie Meeks of Alton, Ill.; four sisters, Lula Foster of St. Louis, Eloise Nickelson of Walls, Miss., Norma James and Peggy Sielert of Dexter; his stepmother, Mary Christian of Dexter; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
