John Wayne Choate, 83, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Cape Girardeau to Elvis and Ruth Yates Choate.

John was a piece worker at Florsheim Shoe factory for over 18 years. He proudly served in U.S. Army.

Survivors include a stepson, Edward A. Jaco of Cape Girardeau; eight stepgrandchildren, Jennifer Howard, Jason Jaco, Jessica Jaco, Stephanie Jaco, Catherine Jaco, Allison Jaco, Robert Griffith and Amber Seeley; several great-stepgrandchildren; and several great-great-stepgrandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Hazel Boese; and three brothers, Carl, Don and Jim Choate.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Millersville.
