John Finney Cargle, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1917, at Whitewater, son of John Wilson and Mary Elizabeth Cargle. He and Frances Coe Kramer were married Aug. 29, 1937, in Barlow, Ky. Mr. Cargle was a member of First Baptist Church. John Finney Cargle, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at his home.

He was born Sept. 29, 1917, at Whitewater, son of John Wilson and Mary Elizabeth Cargle. He and Frances Coe Kramer were married Aug. 29, 1937, in Barlow, Ky.

Mr. Cargle was a member of First Baptist Church. He served as president and state vice president of Junior Chamber of Commerce, vice president of Chamber of Commerce, school board member nine years, two as president.

He was a member of National Hardwood Lumber Association; president of South Central States Lumberman's Club; University of Missouri Board of Directors Industrial Advisory Forestry Board; director of Hardwood Traffic Association; Cape Girardeau Planning and Zoning Commission; Cape Girardeau Board of Adjustments; chairman of Red Cross; and was active in Boy Scouting.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jon Kent Cargle of Oak Ridge, James David Cargle of Jackson, Melvin Bradford Cargle of East Point, Ga.; a sister, Aleen Juniker of Madison, Miss.; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

The funeral was private for immediate family only. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Foundation or First Baptist Church.
